Our extended family members from Raleigh, Morrisville, Durham and Salisbury converged at ZeeYum in Greensboro to celebrate two birthdays. None of us had been here before but all of us were delighted with our experience. This is an unpretentious restaurant where the proprietor's and staff's energy and effort is poured into what's truly important: delicious, high-quality food that's served in a welcoming, comfortable and friendly environment. Our attentive waitress made us feel at ease, answering our questions and making helpful suggestions. More than once, when she was busy with other guests, we caught the attention of the other waitress and were so grateful that she was happy to step in to help. Numerous members of our family have previously worked as servers in restaurants, and we know that this level of willing teamwork is not to be taken for granted. The owner and chef, Zee, came tableside to ensure that we were happy with our meal and took the time to share his passion for offering authentic Turkish food and hospitality to his guests. The hostess, likewise, came by to greet us and introduced us to the Turkish practice of adding some clotted cream to baklava . . . I'm a baklava fan and had no idea that one of my favorite sweets could be improved upon so significantly and deliciously! Based on the relatively low prices for its freshly-prepared, cooked-to-order dishes (the highest-priced entree was under $25), this restaurant must depend on high volume to stay afloat. Please consider trying and returning to ZeeYum -- I believe almost everyone would be as delighted as we were.
